A city-wide scavenger hunt that raises money for children in Lane County
On Saturday, September 26th, 9 teams gathered at Alton Baker Park to gear up for a 4-hour journey. The destination? The top of the scoreboard and a chance to fundraise for children’s charities in Lane County.
Each team consisted of between 2 and 5 members, ready to compete and win the first-ever CLF Network Quest for a Cause. Teams completed various challenges throughout town, racking up points only when providing photo or video evidence with their teammates and appointed mascot. Challenges were allotted points based on level of difficulty or time commitment, ranging from 100 to 500 points per challenge.
What did these challenges look like? Take a look:
And the winners are...
After 4 hours of driving, biking, and dancing all over town, teams raced to the finish line at Claim 52 Brewing to take a photo with Project Chair Kim and snag a few final points. Winners and prizes were announced for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, and discounted food and drinks were provided.
The Real Mission
Some of the challenges also highlighted CLF Network’s ongoing partnerships with many nonprofits in the area, including Adventure! Children’s Museum, CASA of Lane County, ShelterCare, A Family for Every Child, and more. In response to the prompt, “What does ‘family’ mean to you?” to reflect the work A Family for Every Child does, Brenda Sanchez of Team Transplants answered:
Whether teams were asked to perform in a public space until someone stopped to enjoy the show, photograph themselves in front of a Filbert tree, or reflect on what “family” or “home” meant to them, all 9 teams competed with the same goal in mind: to support underserved youth in Lane County.
It has been a blessing to be asked to support children in Lane County. We went on a scavenger hunt and one of the missions was to find three of our Duck statues. And we did.
